Understanding Sets You Free

The Mental Health Association of Fauquier County is an organization dedicated to helping people who have mental health issues and their families and friends. 

• The MHAFC connects these people and their friends and families to vitally important resources. It also serves as an advocacy organization that addresses the needs of people with mental health issues. It works tirelessly to assure that effective treatment options are available. 
  
• We fight to eliminate the stigma associated with mental illness. We offer educational programs in the community to help people learn the facts about mental illness and its treatments. 
  
• We support a Student Assistance Program in our local high schools. 
  
• We support a trained crisis intervention team program, available night and day, for local law enforcement agencies who may encounter people with mental health issues in a crisis situation. 
  
• We help the people with mental health issues who are the most in need in Fauquier County by offering assistance with their living expenses.
• We co-partner with other community-based organizations to enable individuals to lead mentally healthy lives.

The Mental Health Association also provides:

• A speakers bureau on topics related to good mental health, mental illnesses and substance abuse problems. 
• Educational materials to schools, businesses and the public.
